The Super Falcons of Nigeria will face Burundi in a must win match today in Morroco to secure a quarter finals place against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.
Cameroon booked their place in the quarter-finals courtesy of a 2-0 win over Tunisia in their last group game on Saturday. The win followed two previous draws against Togo and Zambia.
The Falcons who lost their first match 2-1 against South Africa bounced back to win Botswana 2-0 in their second game. The result left them needing a win in their last group game to be guaranteed a second place on the table and qualification for the next round.

Meanwhile, Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre could feature in today’s match after missing the match against Botswana due to injury. The Leicester City player picked up an injury in the first match against South Africa.
Speaking ahead of the Burundi game, Head Coach Randy Waldrum said, “We trained earlier, so we have an idea of where she is in her recovery.
“But there’s a possibility that we will hold her again just to make sure she gets ready for the quarterfinals.
“Still, we would consider giving her some game time to get some minutes under her belt before the quarterfinal match. However, it all depends on the doctor.
“Nonetheless, if the game against Burundi were the quarterfinal, she would be playing.
“She’s capable of playing, but we also want to be smart.”
