Christopher Danjuma, head coach of Nigeria’s Falconets, has disclosed how his team outsmarted South Korea in their second Group C encounter at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The Falconets beat South Korea 1-0 thanks to a late goal by Esther Onyenezide in the 83rd minute of the match.

The win means the Nigerian side have won their first two matches after a 1-0 win against France in their first match.

Reacting to the win against South Korea, Danjuma said, “Football is about building your own tactics as it suits you. Playing against the Korean team, if they find space they run and there are certain areas in the field they use to make incursions into your box.

“So what we did was to make sure they didn’t come through that area and thank God it helped us.”

The Falconets will play Canada in their next game. The Canadian side lost 3-1 to France in their second game.

Commenting on their next match, Danjuma said, ”We will approach every match one based on the importance of that match and the opponent we are playing.“
