The Nigeria national basketball team has been ranked the best team in Africa on the FIBA Men’s World Ranking released on Wednesday.
D’Tigers have experienced growth in fortune throughout the year and this marks a remarkable end to the year for the team.
The team had enjoyed a steady rise in the ranking as they moved from 33rd Position to 23rd in the world back in September.
Nigeria amassed a total of 433.3 points to rank 21st in the world, thanks to their good form during the Tokyo Olympics qualifiers.
D’tigers also won all three matches played at the just concluded AfroBasket qualifier in Kigali, Rwanda.
They won their matches against hosts Rwanda, South Sudan and Mali to finish first in the group.
