The Shi’ite movement headed by the incarcerated Ibrahim Yaqoub El Zakzaky are currently staging a peaceful protest in Lagos following the more volatile protest in Abuja that resulted in the deaths of at least two individuals.
The protest is again to call the Nigerian government to obey the several court orders that have asked that El Zakzaky to be released for treatment. While speaking during the protest, one of the spokespersons pointed out that El Zakzaky has about 21 million following and that if their leader dies in prison, it will spell doom for Nigeria as these 21 million followers are ready and willing to die for him.
