The striking Nigerian doctors under the aegis of the National Association of Resident Doctors has announced the suspension of its ten days old national strike.

This was confirmed by Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi, the National President of the Association in an interview with Vanguard on Saturday.

Okhuaihesuyi said the suspension of the strike was informed by their responsibility to citizens and due to the meeting of some of its demands by the Federal Government.

He said the decision was reached after a series of long hours of meetings with various stakeholders in the health sector.

He said, “We have suspended the strike to show our patriotism to Nigerians. The government has met some of our demands and they have assured us that all our needs will be met.

“We are working on a press statement to that effect. Tomorrow we will be having a press conference.”
