The Brazilian team were this evening knocked out at the quarter finals of the World Cup after they lost 1:2 to Belgium. A 13th minute own goal by Fernandinho set the Belgians on course for the win.

De Bruyne fired in the second for the Belgians in the 31 minutes, bringing the score to 2:0 which was how the first half ended. In the second half, Brazil made some changes and began to make a greater impact on the game.

Their effort was rewarded in the 76th when Augusto nodded in a well placed Coutinho pass. Augusto missed another clear chance to bring the game level, as did Coutinho some minutes later.

With this win, Belgium will now face France in the semi finals.
