KWASU Dismisses Lecturer Over Sexual Harassment

Kwara State University, Malete, has dismissed a member of its academic staff, Pelumi Adewale, over the alleged sexual harassment of one Tosin Adegunsoye, a student of the Department of Pure and Applied Sciences of the school. KWASU Vice-Chancellor, Mustapha Akanbi, made the revelation in Ilorin on Monday, while addressing a news conference to herald the eighth and ninth convocation ceremonies of the institution. Akanbi said that Adewale had ceased to be a staff the school for bringing the institution into disrepute. “The security agency has taken up the case and it is in court already, but I am informing you officially that the man is now an ex-staff member of the institution. The Owner Of Dowen College Hasn’t Called Me Till Now – Sylvester’s Father

The father of the deceased pupil Sylvester Omoroni, has revealed that he’s yet to receive a call from the owner of Dowen College. In an interview with Arise news, the aggrieved man disclosed that till this moment the house master, owner of the school and other heads of the institute haven’t called to console him over the death of his son. He further stated that it’s only the JSS1 teacher that called to check up on him. In addition, he noted that the only time he spoke with the principal was when she called to express displeasure over the fact that he shared photos of the deteriorated state of the boy online. The Lagos State Government has released the online version of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry reports. President Muhammadu Buhari says the federal government will await the steps taken by states, before taking action on the report of the Lagos judicial panel of inquiry. ASUU Strike Won’t Happen, Funds Are Available – Ngige

Chris Ngige, minister of labour, says the strike threatened by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will not take place. On Monday, ASUU issued a three-week ultimatum to the federal government to implement the earlier agreement reached with the union. Speaking on Tuesday in an interview on Channels Television, Ngige said funds are available for universities. “The strike will not happen.
