Vice-Chairman of Max Air, Bashir Mangal Dies

The vice-chairman and chief executive officer of Max Air, Bashir Mangal, has died. His death was confirmed in a statement issued by Max Air’s media consultant on Friday. The statement said that Mangal died on Friday morning, December 23, 2022. FG To Toll Second Niger Bridge – Fashola

Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Works and Housing, has stated that the temporarily opened Second Niger Bridge will be tolled. Fashola said that the bridge will be tolled to help make sure that the infrastructure is maintained to serve for several years. Second Niger Bridge To be Opened For 30 Days

The Federal Government has directed the opening of the Second Niger Bridge for use during the yuletide to ear traffic in the South-East region. The bridge was formerly opened in the late hours of Thursday. The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, who issued the directive on Wednesday at the inauguration of the bridge, stated that it will be opened for a period of one month during the festive period. NRC Increases Fares On Lagos-Ibadan Train Service Over Diesel Cost

The Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, has disclosed that the fares for Lagos-Ibadan and Lagos-Abeokuta train have been reviewed upwards. Recall that the NRC had in August announced a reduction in the number of trips on the Lagos-Ibadan route due to an increase in the cost of diesel. IGP Deploys Armed Officers As Abuja-Kaduna Train Service Restarts Monday

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Baba has directed the deployment of armed operatives to secure the Abuja-Kaduna train services. This was contained in a statement issued by the force spokesperson, Oluwuyiwa Adejobi, on Sunday. Adejobi said the personnel would be drawn from the police mobile force, K-9force intelligence bureau, explosive ordinance unit, and railway police command. Emirates Arline has suspended flight operations to Nigeria due to its inability to send home funds stuck in the country. This was contained in a statement the airline issued on Thursday. The statement added that the suspension became effective on October 29, 2022. This marks the second time the airline will stop flights to Nigeria over its $85 million revenue, with the first coming in August 2022. How Airfares Rose By 96.87% In One Year – NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has said that the price of air transportation rose by 96.87 per cent in one year. In its report titled ‘transport fare watch’ (September 2022), the Bureau stated that the average ticket for specified routes single journey rose by 96.87% from N36,922.97 in September 2021 on a year-on-year basis.   NBS said that on a month-on-month basis, it rose by 11.76% from N65,041.89 in August 2022 to N72,690.54 in September 2022. Six Dead, Five Unaccounted For As Boat Capsizes In Niger

No fewer than six people have been reported dead after a boat capsized in the Gbara area of Mokwa Local Government Area, LGA, in Niger State. A statement issued by the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA, on Saturday stated that five people are still missing. Th mishap occurred on Friday evening when the boat which was carrying 48 passengers was on its way back from Danchitagi village market in Lavun LGA to Gbara village.
