Senate Tells FG To Declare Known Terrorist Leaders Wanted

The Senate has called on the President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) led Federal Government to declare all known leaders of terrorists wanted. The call was made on Wednesday in a six-point resolution reached by the chamber, following a motion considered on the urgent need to stem the increasing spate of kidnappings and insecurity across parts of the country. The motion entitled, “urgent need to surmount all kinds of kidnappings, banditry and related security challenges in Wasagu-Danko, Sakaba, and Yauri Local Government Areas of Kebbi State”, was sponsored by Senator Bala Ibn Na’allah (Kebbi South). Police Foil Unknown Gunmen Attack On Anambra Police Station

The Anambra State police command has foiled an attack by unknown gunmen who stormed the Uli Police Station in Ihiala local government area. The attackers stormed the station in a black coloured Lexus 330 car, but were repelled by the superior firepower of the officers on duty, thus forcing the gunmen to run away. Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga said the operational vehicle of the gunmen was recovered by the police.It was gathered that the gunmen headed back to Mgbidi in Imo State from where they came from. The Head, United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Nigeria, Martin Griffiths, has urged the world not to take attention away from the insurgency-ravaged North-East Nigeria, noting that the region needs not less than $1bn in aid this year. According to him, the funds are needed to provide food and health care for the millions of people displaced and to those who remain in their homes but are vulnerable to attacks. Troops Foil ISWAP Attack At Special Forces’ School, Kill 7 Terrorists In Yobe

The Special Forces and Air Task Force of the Nigerian Military on Sunday foiled a terrorist attack at the School of Special Forces in Yobe State. It was learned that seven ISWAP insurgents were eliminated when the troops again repelled a separate attack on the civilian population at Buni Yadi, a popular town in the North East State. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged Kenneth Minimah, a former Chief of Army Staff, with fraud involving alleged misappropriation of N13 billion meant for arms purchase. Mr Minimah was charged alongside an erstwhile Chief of Accounts and Budget of the Nigerian Army, A. O. Adetayo, a major-general, and the former Director, Finance and Accounts of the Nigerian Army, R. I. Odi, a brigadier-general, at the Federal Capital Territory High in Abuja.
