Osinbajo Calls on Media to fight Fake News

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN)  has called on the media to join the fight against fake news. Osinbajo noted that the systemic rot engendered by secrecy and opacity in governance was no longer the main threat to a normal functioning Nigeria, but the proliferation of fake news. BREAKING: Tension As Gunshots Rock Police Area Command In Aba

There is currently tension in Aba commercial town in Abia State, over sounds of gunshots at the police area command, Daily Trust reports. Residents were going about their normal activities when suddenly security operatives started shooting sporadically. All roads around the police command have been barricaded and residents have been ordered back to their houses. The newspaper quoted a top police source as saying that security operatives got intelligence that the gunmen that unleashed terror on security formations in Imo State were on their way to Aba Area Command.

BREAKING: Kaduna Orders Immediate Closure Of Schools Over Attacks

The Kaduna State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all public and private schools in the Kajuru Local Government Area of the state. According to a memo signed by the zonal education office, Sabon Tasha, all schools should close due to the prevailing security situation in the area. The memo, dated March 16, was addressed to all principals of public and private schools. Gunmen had on March 11 stormed the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in Mando, Kaduna state, kidnapping 39 students.
