Military needs Superior Weapons to End Insurgency – Ndume

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Ali Ndume, has urged the Federal Government to increase the military budget for buying arms to enable them defeat Boko Haram insurgents. He said if the military budget for personnel and overheads dwarfs the amount spent on arms and ammunition, the military would not be able to defeat the insurgents. Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested five suspected Fulani armed robbers in the Kuje area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, with two vehicles containing locally made guns. No fewer than two persons reportedly lost their lives when some suspected herdsmen attacked the men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency also known as Amotekun Corps. The incident occurred on Thursday in Sanusi Village, in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
