EFCC Issues Warning on Sale, Purchase of NIN

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has issued a stern warning to Nigerians seeking to purchase the National Identity Number from individuals who have already enrolled that they stand a chance of being prosecuted. The agency disclosed this in a statement issued yesterday, noting that it was illegal for citizens to sell their NIN as they stand the risk of being prosecuted for any act of criminality linked to their NIN. NIN Holders Pay N15,000 For Date of Birth Correction –NIMC Official

The National Identity Management Commission, on Wednesday, says National Identification Number holders are required to pay N15,000 to correct their dates of birth in the commission’s database. NIMC Regional Coordinator, Funmi Opesanwo, stated this on Wednesday at the commission’s office in the Alausa area of Lagos State. According to her, NIN holders are also required to pay a processing fee of N5,000 for card renewal or card replacement as well as an address modification fee of N500. NIN: FG Outlines New Conditions for SIM Replacement

The Federal Government has outlined new conditions for telecommunication service subscribers to have their lost, stolen, misplace or damaged SIM cards replaced. This was contained in a statement jointly signed on Friday by the Director, Public Affairs, NCC, Ikechukwu Adinde; and Head, Corporate Communication, NIMC, Kayode Adegoke. The Federal Government has extended the deadline for the provision of National Identification Number (NIN) by telecommunication service subscribers as part of SIM registration to February 9, 2021. SIM Registration: FG Cancels USSD NIN Retrieval Fee

Following the new directive on linking National Identification Number to SIM cards, the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Ibrahim has directed the Nigerian Communications Commission and the National Identity Management Commission to discontinue the N20 USSD fee incurred by subscribers for NIN retrieval requests. The NCC had earlier mandated telecommunication providers to block SIM cards not registered with NIN.
