Super Falcons Lament Over Unpaid WAFCON Bonuses

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is still yet to pay the Women’s National Team their allowances and bonuses from last month’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON. The Super Falcons deliberately missed training before their third-place play-off against Zambia over their unpaid bonuses and allowances. According to The Nations, each player is owed over $10,000 including the bonuses for their three wins which enabled the team to qualify for the WAFCON semi-finals in Morocco. A member of the team disclosed to BBC Sport Africa that they have been told different lies regarding their payments. WAFCON 2022: Super Falcons Lose Third Place Match To Zambia

The Super Falcons of Nigeria lost 0-1 to the Copper Queens of Zambia in the third-place match of the WAFCON 2022 on Friday in Morocco. The Zambian side claimed the Bronze medal courtesy of an own goal by Chiamaka Nnadozie in the first half of the encounter. The medal marked Zambia’s first ever medal. The Falcons had only finished fourth at the WAFCON in the 2012 edition. Zambia got their goal in the 29 minutes when Evarine Katongo’s long range shot came off Nnadozie after it initially hit the post and deflected into the net. WAFCON 2022: Waldrum Assures of Victory Against Zambia Despite Depleted Squad

Coach of the Super Falcons of Nigeria, Randy Waldrum, has assured that his team will be equal to the task in their third-place match against Zambia in the ongoing WAFCON 2022 on Friday. The Falcons who missed out on their quest to win a tenth African Women’s Cup of Nations after losing narrowly to hosts, Morocco will take on Zambia at the Stade Mohamed V, Casablanca aiming to secure a third-place finish. The Nigerian side will be without the trio of Onome Ebi, Halimat Ayinde and Rasheedat Ajibade for the game. Super Falcons Fail to Qualify for 2022 WAFCON Final

The Super Falcons have been eliminated from the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) by the competition’s host, Morocco. Morocco eliminated the Nigeria women’s team in the semifinals at the ongoing WAFCON competition on penalty shootouts as the game ended in a draw at full time and extra time.
