World Cup: Croatia Knocks Out Denmark on Penalties

In a match that started with two quick goals - one for each side, there was surprisingly no other goals. After Jorgensen scored for the Danes in the very 1st minute of the game and Croatia equalized barely 3 minutes later through Mandzukic, more goals were expected by the fans but this was not to be. The game went into extra time and still no further goals were recorded. Hosts Russia shocked Spain and indeed the world by knocking Spain out of the tournament. Russia scored the four shots so there was no need to take the fifth. Russia will now take on the winner between Denmark and Croatia.

World Cup: Japan Advances to Second Round, Loses 0:1 to Poland

Japan has advanced to the second round of the World Cup even after losing 0:1 to Poland. Poland went into the match knowing they had already dropped out of the World Cup. Poland got their goal in the 59th minute through Bednarek and the Japanese were unable to respond through the rest of the match. The Japanese had 4 points and were hoping to win the match. World Cup: Senegal Drops Out, Loses 0:1 to Colombia

Senegal has crashed out of the World Cup after losing 0:1 to Colombia. Senegal was Africa's last representative in the tournament which means no African side made it out of the groups. A 74th minute goal from Colombia's Yerry Mina ensured the Africans did not proceed to the next round. World Cup: Switzerland Draws 2:2 with Costa Rica

Switzerland qualified for the second round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup by defeating Costa Rica 2:2. Costa Rica were already out of the tournament an were only playing for pride. They were however unable to get maximum points against a Swiss team that needed just a draw. The Swiss got the first goal of the match in the 31st minute through Dzemaili. The Brazilian team moved on to the second round with a 2:0 defeat of Serbia. Brazil came into the match with 4 points having won one and lost one of their previous matches.
