Gunmen Hijack Commercial Vehicle, Abduct Passengers in Rivers

A commercial vehicle boarded by five passengers has been hijacked by unknown gunmen on the Emohua-Kalabari axis of the East-West Road in Rivers State. Reports confirm that the vehicle was boarded by passengers on Saturday around 8 pm, however, the vehicle was later hijacked and the driver released by the gunmen. The Rivers State Police Command is yet to issue a statement on the incident. Gunmen abducted four Catholic Reverend Sisters on Sunday along the Okigwe-Umulolo area of the expressway. Insecurity: Ondo Govt Offers N50k Reward To Residents

The Governor Rotimi Akeredolu administration has offered a N50,000 reward for any resident who offers useful information that will unmask the identity of kidnappers and other criminal elements in the State. Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, stated this after the weekly State Executive Council meeting at the Governor's Office on Wednesday. She stated that the reward was meant to encourage residents to assist the government in its efforts to rid the State of criminals.
