The Federal Government has said the allegation by a US-based non-profit organisation that the Nigerian government was sponsoring terrorism is “a disgusting distraction orchestrated by those seeking to weaken the ongoing massive onslaught against terrorism and banditry.” The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in a statement on Sunday, said “the so-called Global Advocates for Terrorism Eradication is a pesky irritant that should be ignored, especially because it is as confused as it is irresponsible.” He said, “This organisation called GATE is not even worth the ink with which its name is written. The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, will visit Nigeria, Kenya and Senegal between November 15 and 20, 2021. Tordue Salem Death: Itoro Cleme, Hit-And-Run Driver Arrested By Police

The Police have arrested a commercial driver suspected to be responsible for the death of a Vanguard Journalist, Tordue Salem. The suspect, a 29-year-old commercial driver, Itoro Clement was paraded on Friday in Abuja. The Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba said Clement was arrested following an investigation carried out by the Force Intelligence Bureau. The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has asked the Nigerian Police and other security agencies to unravel the mysterious circumstances leading to the killing of Vanguard Newspaper reporter, Tordue Henry Salem. Tordue, who was last seen on October 13, 2021, was reportedly found dead in Abuja in the late hours of Thursday, November 11, 2021 after allegedly being knocked down by a hit-and-run driver. Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) deployed at 192 Battalion Foward Operations Base (FOB) have inflicted heavy casualty on Boko Haram(BH) and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in an ambush in Pulka general area. It was an Intelligence driven operation that was conducted with precision in conjunction with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local vigilantes. The operation left four of the criminal elements neutralized and a good number of arms recovered. The fierce encounter occured in Rengye, an area suspected to be the terrorists' crossing point. The Inspector General of Police, Mr Usman Baba, has warned non-state actors, including the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, to steer clear of Saturday’s election in Anambra State.
