APC Primary: Buhari Meets Govs, Party Chairman, Stakeholders

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday met with some select stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress including former chairmen, the current National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu; the National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore; and some governors elected on the platform of the party. The meeting came amid the inability of the governors to produce a consensus candidate barely 24 hours to the party’s convention. A second meeting is expected to hold between all 22 governors of the APC and the President on Monday (today). While the convention is expected to begin on Monday (today), the primary itself will not take place until Tuesday. The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has been declared the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Sokoto South. Tambuwal seeks to represent seven Local Government Areas in the Red Chamber come 2023. The LGAs are Bodinga, Dange/Shuni, Kebbe, Shagari, Tambuwal, Tureta, and Yabo. The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party will on Monday meet with the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over the selection of his running mate and strategy for winning the February 25, 2023 presidential election.
