Biafra: IPOB Blames, Ohaneze, South-east Governors for Operation Python Dance 3

The Indeginous People of Biafra (IPOB) has declared Ohaneze Ndigbo and the South-East Governors complicit in the recently announced Operation Python Dance 3 by the Nigerian Army. Speaking on behalf of IPOB, its publicity secretary, Emma Powerful wondered why the governors and Ohaneze Ndigbo have kept silent on the issue of the operation the army again plans to carry out in the South-East. The group had earlier given a directive for a sit-at-home protest on September 14th 2018 to protest the alleged mass killings of innocent easterner by the Nigerian army. He added that, despite the fact that they were still burying their dead from the last operation, they were once again faced with yet another Operation Python Dance meant to kill more innocent and defenceless easterners. He sai...

Opinion: Removing Buhari Alone Will Not Solve All Our Problems – Fani-Kayode

Election fever has gripped our country and many want to be President. Some are serious contenders whilst others are not. Yet the truth is that our problems cannot be solved simply by a Presidential  election. It is a good start but it is not a cure all. We need to do far more than just electing a new President if we want lasting peace, if we want to flourish as a people and if we want to grow as a nation. Anyone that believes that removing Buhari alone will solve all our problems is naive and shortsighted. We need to go much further than that. The reality is that the problems of Nigeria can only be solved by having a credible and all-encompassing referendum and ensuring that our so-called federation is properly and thoroughly restructured. Anything short of that means we are simpl...

Opinion: Why Nigeria Under Buhari is World Headquarters for Extreme Poverty – Reno Omokri

On Wednesday the 29th of August, 2018, British Prime Minister, Theresa May, visited Nigeria with a plane full of business people to help Britain make money in Nigeria. So meticulously choreographed was her visit, that she came with businessmen and women that sold or manufactured every item you could imagine from air fresheners to Scotch whiskey. Mrs May, who I met twice last year, demonstrated the main thrust of her visit by travelling with David Schwimmer, the Chief Executive of the London Stock Exchange. Her entourage to Nigeria was chockfull of business and industry folk and very lean on civil servants and politicians. In fact, only two members of her cabinet joined her on her African trip. If there was any spare space on the Royal Airforce Jet that flew her to Africa, that space ...

Nigeria: Saraki Declares Intention to Run for President

Amidst the political upheaval with himself and his former party the APC, the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki has declared his intention to run for President. In a simple announcement shared on social media, Saraki said "I have decided to answer the call of teeming youth who have asked me to run for President. Accordingly, I hereby announce my intention to run for the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria." In his speech, he asked "if we look around today, what do we see? What is the condition of our citizens? Where are we as a nation? How are we perceived locally and internationally? Why are we not making the expected progress? Why are we not growing? There's no time to waste." He noted that this was the time to bring about growth. He also reminded Nigerians that ...

Opinion: Open Letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on the State of the Nation – Timi Frank

Dear Sir, I write this letter to you, Mr. President, with all sincerity and humility, as it is my very first letter to you since your emergence as President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of our great country, Nigeria. I would first of all like to use this opportunity to formally apologise to the immediate past President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, for all the tantrums and mistreatment orchestrated by me against his person while he held sway at the helm of affairs of our great country. Indeed, I and many others may have misunderstood Jonathan’s silence for weakness and thus pushed harder to malign his person and portray him as a weak leader. Having achieved the Change Agenda, it is now crystal clear, that the change we had clamoured for is not the change w...

Opinion: ExxonMobil Should Not be Allowed to Show Contempt for the Supreme Court of Nigeria – Femi Aribisala

To Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Productivity. EXXONMOBIL Should Not be Allowed to Show Contempt for the Supreme Court of Nigeria!! The message must be sent to ExxonMobil loud and clear that, as long as it is operating within the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it must be subject to Nigerian laws. If you were to visit the Lagos headquarters of ExxonMobil (Nigeria) in Victoria Island, Lagos today, you would immediately notice that something strange is going on. You will find a number of people camped outside the building; sometimes chanting, sometimes dancing, sometimes shouting slogans. They are there 24/7; day and night. Surely, this is anomalous to the activities of an international oil company. You will also notice that there are placards hanging everywher...

Nigeria: Nigeria Suffering International Embarrassment Because of Buhari – PDP

President Muhammadu Buhari has made Nigeria a subject of international scorn. This is the response of the People's Democratic Party to the recent report by the Financial Times which alleged that President Donald Trump , described President Buhari as “lifeless”. In a statement signed by Kola Ologbondiyan, the party's National Publicity Secretary, the party noted that this was happened when incompetent leaders were put in positions of power. According to them, as a result of inferiority complex, such leaders roam the world seeking validation from world leaders. They also added that the recognition President BUhari was seeking was sadly not based on any tangible achievement after having been in office for about three years. Part of the statement read: "PDP hereby charges Mr. P...

Africa: Africa looks for something new out of Trump

Donald Trump will welcome Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyatta to the White House on Monday for what will be only the second one-on-one meeting the US president has held with an African leader since he took office last year. The first meeting, with Nigeria’s ailing 75-year-old Muhammadu Buhari in April, ended with the US president telling aides he never wanted to meet someone so lifeless again, according to three people familiar with the matter. Advocates of closer US-Africa ties hope his encounter with the younger, more urbane Mr Kenyatta, 56, will breathe fresh life into a relationship with a region that Washington is seen to have neglected as other countries, notably China, develop ever-closer trade and investment ties with the continent. Under Emmanuel Macron, France is also trying to reset...

Opinion: How Jonathan Fought Corruption more Effectively than Buhari Has Ever Done – Aribisala

It is necessary to remind Nigerians that the biggest institutional attacks on corruption in Nigeria came under the PDP. EFCC, ICPC and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) were all created by the PDP. Building institutions is always far better than propaganda. Goodluck Jonathan addressed the issue of corruption in this manner. He attempted to remove the big institutional corruption represented by the petroleum subsidy. But this was rejected by Nigerians at the instance of Tinubu and Buhari. As a matter of fact, Buhari maintained there was no petroleum subsidy. To quote him, he asked: “Who is subsidizing who?” Jonathan sanitised the banking system. With the introduction of the Government Integrated Financial Management System (GIFMS), physical movement of cash in the maki...

Biafra: IPOB Suit – Investigate U.S., Leave Nigeria Alone – Nigerians in Diaspora Tell US Lawyer

General Tukur Yusuf Buratai before the International Criminal Court (ICC) for successfully containing the terrorist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB). The group asked the firm to channel its energy and investigate United States president, George Bush and Barack Obama and leave Nigeria alone.
