BREAKING: Four Killed, Scores Injured as Gas Plant Explodes in Lagos  

Lagos has witnessed fresh explosion as Best Roof Cooking Gas plant exploded on Thursday in the Baruwa community of the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State. The explosion which happened around 5:45am on Thursday led to the death of four persons while scores were injured in the explosion which occurred around Unity Bus-Stop on Candos Road, Baruwa. A primary school and other valuable properties within the area were affected by the explosion, Punch reports. The Lagos State Government, on Thursday, disowned the viral video, where some uniformed impostors were promoting the sale of branded wastebaskets purportedly on behalf of the State. Muslim students in Lagos State have appealed to government to provide palliatives for private schools to avert job losses occasioned by adverse effect of COVID-19 on private schools. The call comes after Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had on Saturday directed tertiary institutions to open from September 14 while primary and secondary schools might be reopened on September 21. Breaking: Two Dead as Helicopter Crashes in Lagos

A plane has crashed in Lagos, Nigeria leading to the death of the pilot and one passenger. Reports say one person was rescued alive from the Quorum Aviation owned helicopter, Sahara Reporters reports. Eye witness account say the crash took place around the Salvation Bus-stop area of Lagos. The figures were confirmed by Nosa Okunbor, Head of Public Affairs of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency. Okunbor said, "There are three casualties. Two died. One resuscitated and taken to the hospital."

Doctors in Lagos state, Nigeria under the auspices of the Medical Guild in Lagos, will begin a three-day warning strike from today, 13th July, 2020 due to safety and welfare issues. Chairman of the Guild, Dr Oluwajimi Sodipo disclosed the position of the association at a briefing on Sunday in Lagos. The Guild consists of medical doctors employed by the Lagos State Government. Sodipo said that the association exempted members working in the state’s COVID-19 isolation centres and the industrial action would commence on Monday, July 13 and end on 16. COVID-19 Test in Lagos, Nigeria to Cost Between 40,000-50,400 As Government Approves Private Labs

The Lagos state government has incorporated private sector laboratories to commence COVID-19 tests. Residents would be required to pay between N40,000-N50,400 to be tested in the private labs. This was announced by the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Abayomi while inaugurating the Private-Public collaboration on the containment of coronavirus to expand the capacity of the government to effectively respond to the pandemic. Abayomi said that residents who are unable to access free testing at government run laboratories now have the option to get tested at private sector laboratories at a fee between N40,000 and N50,400.
