As part of ongoing negotiations towards resolving the dispute between the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal government, Minister of Labour, Employment and Productivity, Dr Chris Ngige led a delegation of the Federal Government to a closed doors meeting with the Senate to evaluate the University Transparency Account Systems payroll system developed ASUU. Ahmed Lawan, President of the Nigerian Senate has reproached the Federal Government for committing to an agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which it knows it will not fulfill.   The National Assembly has completed the installation of automated COVID-19 sanitizing devices on all entrance points to curb the spread of the virus. The chamber now has a chest containing hand sanitizer. Reps Fault Chinese Loan Terms, as FG Confirms Sovereignty Clause

The House of Representatives has frowned at the sovereignty clause in Nigeria’s loan agreement with China, describing it as dangerous. Nicholas Ossai, Chairman of the House Committee on Treaties, Protocols and Agreements stated this at the investigative hearing on external loans and commercial agreements, saying Nigeria’s loan agreement with China was overseen by Chinese laws. He said Nigerian officials have been going against the Executive Order providing guidelines on waiver of sovereign immunity during loan and commercial agreement negotiations which the Federal Government signed in 2014.
