Nine Ghanaians Jailed For Cannabis Smuggling Into Nigeria

Nine Ghanaians have been sentenced to eight years imprisonment each by the federal high court in Laos for attempting to smuggle cannabis into Nigeria. This was confirmed by the NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, in a statement released on Sunday, noting that the convicts identified as Victor Wuddah, Freeman Gazul, Adotete Joseph, Sottie Moses, Sottie Stephen, Christian Tette, Kanu Okonipa, Daniel Koyepti, and Kanu Natte — were sentenced on Friday. Babafemi said the convicts had attempted to smuggle 10,843.95 kilogrammes of cannabis into Nigeria “through the sea”. Customs Struggling to Stop Rice Smuggling via sea – Hamid Ali

The Comptroller General of Customs, Hamid Ali on Thursday said that the lack of boats has prevented the Nigerian Customs Service from effectively stopping rice smuggling. NDLEA Destroys N2Billion Worth of Illicit Drugs in Akwa Ibom

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, revealed about N2 billion worth of illicit drugs has been destroyed by the agency between 2014 and September 2021 in Akwa Ibom. The Agency’s Secretary, Mr. Shedrach Haruna, who represented the NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, said this when he visited the State Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo in Uyo on Thursday. EFCC Recovers 1.4 Billion Naira Meant for The NHIS

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, reveals that a sum of N1.4 Billion which was meant for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), has been recovered. The commission made a statement on its official Twitter page which said the sum was included in the funds that some commercial banks wrongly refused to remit to the Treasury Single Account since 2015. Osun: 43-Year-Old Man Killed by Suspected Cultists

A 43-year-old man named Yinusa Okunloye was killed by suspected cultists in Ofatedo, Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State.
