ASUU NEC To Make Decision On Strike Sunday

 The National Executive Council of the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, will decide on the continuation or suspension of the ongoing industrial action on Sunday, August 28, 2022. Reports say the meeting is expected to take place at the union’s national headquarters at the University of Abuja. The decision of the union will be based on reports from different state congresses that are expected to be conducted before then. Recall that ASUU had on February 14, 2022, declared strike over some dispute with the federal government. Angry Lecturers Leaving Nigeria In Droves – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has lamented the mass exodus of academics from the country’s universities, owing to the lingering strike and government’s inaction. This was disclosed by the President of the union, Emmanuel Osodeke, who stated that several lecturers have resorted to alternative means of livelihood. SSANU, NASU Call Off Strike

The Non-Academic Staff Union of Education and Associated Institutions, NASU, and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, has announced the suspension of their strike, effectively on Wednesday. This was disclosed by the Joint Action Committee, JAC, of both unions in a statement issued by Mr Peter Adeyem, on Saturday. ASUU Strike: FG Discloses Strategy To End Lingering Strike

The Federal Government has said it will utilise voluntary conciliation as a solution to the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, and other university-based unions. This was stated by Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, on Tuesday during a 3-day capacity-building workshop on International Labour Standards and Dispute Resolution in Nigeria in Abuja. ASUU Strike: Unease As Electricity Workers Declare Readiness To Join NLC Protest

Power sector workers have declared readiness to join the protest scheduled by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, to persuade the federal government to resolve the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
