Ekweremadu Case: The Youngman is 22yrs, Not 15yrs, NIS

Senator Ike Ekweremadu appears to be having some reprieve as the Nigerian Immigration Service has confirmed that the supposed minor in the case is actually 22 years and not 15years old as he claims. It will be recalled that Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife were arrested on charges of trafficking a minor for organ harvesting. While all details are still emerging, Isah Idris, the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service has revealed that the young man in the center of the controversy, Mr Ukpo Nwamini David, is actually 22 years of age and so not a minor. Ike Ekweremadu and Wife Arrested in the Uk for Trafficking Child for Organ Harvesting

The Metro Police in the UK has announced the arrest of a Nigerian man named Ike Ekweremadu aged 60, and his wife Beatrice Ekweremadu, aged 55. The two were remanded in custody on suspicion of conspiring to bring a minor to the UK for the purpose of organ harvesting. Soldiers Charged With Killing Nine Civilians In Cameroon

The army in Cameroon has confirmed that soldiers have killed nine civilians, including an 18-month-old girl. An army spokesman said a group of soldiers opened fire when they encountered hostile villagers in Missong, in the country's North-West region, earlier this month. The spokesman described the use of weapons as "inappropriate and manifestly disproportionate". Cameroon's ministry of defence says four soldiers have been arrested following the shooting. Teenager With Albinism Killed For Body Parts In Mozambique

A teenager with albinism was killed and dismembered in Mogovolas district, in Mozambique's northern Nampula province, for his body parts. Police say they have arrested the main suspect, who they say confessed to the murder. The detained suspect is the victim’s uncle, aged 22, according to the Nampula police spokesperson, Zacarias Nacute. The suspect told the press that he had been promised about 7 million meticais ($110,000; £87,000) for the body parts. The US Justice Department says it has secured the forfeiture of a mansion bought by former Gambian president Yahya Jammeh for $3.5m (£2.7m) with alleged corruption proceeds. The property in Potomac, Maryland, is said to have been acquired through a trust set up by his wife, Zineb Jammeh. A UN human rights expert has called on the authorities in Mauritania to take urgent measures to implement an anti-slavery law which was passed in 2015. Following a visit to the West African country, Tomoya Obokata - the UN Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of slavery - said some progress had been made in abolishing the practice but warned much more needed to be done. DR Congo Policeman Sentenced To Death For Murder

A Congolese military court has sentenced a high-ranking policeman to death for his role in the 2010 murder of human rights activist Floribert Chebeya, which caused national outrage. Commissioner of police Christian Ngoy Kenga Kenga was found guilty of murder, desertion and misappropriation of weapons and ammunition. Mr Chebeya's body was found bound and gagged in his car in Kinshasa. There is a moratorium on capital punishments in DR Congo. However, the death penalty has not been abolished and military courts continue to hand down such sentences. Another policeman, Jacques Migabo, was also sentenced to 12 years during the trial.
