Family Of Slain Vendor Demands N500m Compensation From Gbajabiamila

The family of the late newspaper vendor, Ifeanyichukwu Okereke, who was murdered by a security aide of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has demanded for the sum of N500m as compensation. The Okereke family said it would take legal action against Gbajabiamila if all the demands were not met within seven days. This was contained in a letter dated November 23, 2020 signed by lawyer to the family, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN). Lekki Shooting: Soldiers Took Live Bullets to Scene for Self-defence – General Taiwo

Brigadier General Ahmed Taiwo, Commander of 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, Victoria Island, Lagos, which was the Army unit deployed to the Lekki Tollgate area on the night of October 20, has admitted that the officers went to the scene with Live and blank bullet. He said that the Phase four of military internal security operation which the Army deployed involved soldiers taking live ammunition to the scene for self defence. He noted that some officers that operated at the tollgate on the night of the shooting were indeed armed with live bullets. #EndSARS: Arrested Protester, Eromosele, Regains Freedom After 12 Days

Social activist, Eromosele Adene, has finally regained his freedom from unjust detention of the Nigeria Police Force. Adene was arrested by the police on November 7 from his home in Ikeja, Lagos. He was taken to Abuja for interrogation before he was returned to Lagos for trial after 10 days. He was arraigned in court on four count charges of cyber-stalking and activities likely to cause breach of peace. He was granted bail on Tuesday by Magistrate Folarin Williams of the Yaba Magistrate Court. The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the arrest of the former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, adjudged to have jumped bail regarding his trial involving N2bn money laundering charges. Justice Okon Abang made the order in Wednesday’s ruling in which he also revoked the bail earlier granted the fleeing defendant. He ordered all security agencies in the country to arrest Maina “wherever he may be found” and produce him in court, “without delay”. The judge also ordered that the defendant’s trial would proceed in his absence pending when the defendant would be produced in court. Officers of the Nigerian Army on Saturday appeared before the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry Inaugurated to probe the shooting of peaceful #EndSaRS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate area of Lagos State on October 20. Army personnel attached to the 81 Division, have arrived the venue of the inquiry into the alleged shooting of peaceful #EndSARS protesters by soldiers at the Lekki tollgate area of Lagos on October 20.
