Sports: Nigerian Super Eagles Making Waves with Their Outfit

It's an already known fact that the kit of the Nigerian Super Eagles took center stage. Following in this path, the Super Eagles traveled to Russia in a stylish traditional outfit that is already trending. The outfit which was designed by Nigerian designers David Bowler was to have been used at the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil but was replaced at the last minute. There is no doubt that the Nigerians have made a very good impression with their kit and outfits. It is now left for them to carry over this trend of excellence unto the pitch of play. Nigeria will play against Croatia in its first match on June 16th by 8pm Nigerian time.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has given Falz a 7-day period within which to withdraw the video and apologise to Nigerians. According to the group, if he does not do this, he will face legal actions. The group particularly had issues with the girls dancing "shaku shaku" while dressed in hijab. They also commented on the Fulani man who was shown beheading someone after dropping his traditional guitar. The replica of the Nigerian Super Eagle's kit which was released for sale to the public on June 1 has sold out on the first day with about three million pre-orders. People were seen queuing up outside Nike's store in London in a bid to get the kit which sold for £64.95 (about N32,000). A video of some school girls performing at a competition wearing very skimpy outfits, has sparked serious outrage. The outfit which leaves the breasts and buttocks exposed is known as "inkciyo" and is a traditional wear of the Xhosa ethnic group, the second largest ethnic group in South Africa. Following the outrage, the choirmaster of the school said he was proud of their performance. According to him, "We are proud of our Xhosa tradition. We are proud of 'inkciyo'. Nigerian authorities have notified the management of MultiChoice DSTV/GOTV that their operations in Nigeria will come to an end in 2019 as their license expires June next year. According to a letter to that effect (seen by Daily Times reporter) issued on Tuesday by the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation(NBC), the license issued to them in 2014 by NBC will not be renewed because it was not in line with Digital Switch Over (DSO) White Paper.
