Rapper Big Lo Dies of Kidney Related Complications

Veteran Nigerian rapper, Lotanna Udezue, popularly known as Biglo has died after a long battle with kidney ailment. His death was announced on Instagram by singer Jazzman Olofin on Sunday. Olofin wrote, "Dear BIGLO, heard the sad news last night you passed away. You fought bravely all the way but GOD Almighty knows best. We'll keep the fire burning. Rest in peace, bro. 🙏🏾🙏🏾 FYI, BIGLO was a Nigerian music producer, rapper, and singer." Recall that Biglo revealed in 2019 that he was suffering from a kidney ailment.   FCT Mobile Court Fines Naira Marley Over Jabi Lake Mall Concert

Nigerian musician Azeez Fashola, who goes by stage name Naira Marley has been fined N200,000 by an Abuja mobile court over his June 13 concert at Jabi Lake Mall in violation of COVID-19 lockdown measures. The fine was pronounced under heavy security at the Eagles square, Abuja. He pleaded guilty to four count charges of breach interstate movement put in place by the Presidential Task Force (PTF), no- wearing of face mask, social gathering and violation of curfew imposed by the FCT Administration. The fine comes after the singer and his manager, Seyi Awonuga had earlier been fined N100,000 each by the State Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court. Recall that African News Today had called for the trial of the singer for the sake of rule of law.

Rwanda Launches Economic Recovery Program for Creative Industry

Rwanda on Friday launched a multi-party COVID-19 recovery program known as Cultural and Creative Industry Recovery Plan to uphold enterprises in the cultural and creative industry, as well as artists. According to a press release, the recovery plan aims to support seven Rwandan federations in the sectors of music, film, plastic arts, writing, beauty and fashion, traditional dance and performing arts It targets to provide 300 million Rwandan francs (about 313,000 U.S. dollars) in grants to uphold initiatives from art enterprises and artists, promote access to resources, facilities and training opportunities free for artists, and engage Rwandans to learn about, love and buy made-in-Rwanda art.
