CVR: INEC Firm On CVR Deadline

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has insisted that the Continuous Voters, CVR, exercise will not be extended as it is set to stop on July 31, 2022 (today). The clarification follows the huge crowd that trooped to registration centres to register before the deadline.   Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner in charge of publicity and voter education, disclosed this during an interaction with the press at the Anambra State INEC headquarters. 2023 Election: INEC To Provide 200,000 BVAS – Okoye

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said that over 200,000 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, will be deployed for the 2023 general elections. This was disclosed by Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, in Umuahia, Abia State. He said that the BVAS would be deployed in the 176,000 polling units across the country, adding that the surplus will be kept handy as a reserve. PVC Registration: Why Lagos Govt Declared Work-free Days – Commissioner

Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, has cited Permanent Voters Card, PVC, registration as the rationale behind the four free-work days declared by the state government. He said the holiday given to workers in the State was to provide them with the opportunity to enrol for the PVC before the July 31, 2022 deadline fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. The Lagos Commissioner in a statement dismissed insinuations of the gesture having a political undertone, describing those suggesting such as insincere. INEC: New Voters Registrations Hit 10.4 million

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) disclosed that the registrations of Nigerians in the Continuous Voters Registration hit 10.4 million. The commission also stated that a total of 11 million registrants had their registration completed as of Tuesday. It was also revealed that 3.3 million of the registrants requested their registration online while 7.6 million registrants went for physical registration. The commission also gave a gender analysis of registrants as 5,453,071 males and 5,558,048 females out of which 80,101 are persons with disabilities, completed their registration. President Muhammadu Buhari has forwarded a list of 18 nominees for appointment as Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs, of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to the Senate for confirmation. Sanwo-Olu Approves Four Work-free Days For Workers To Register for PVC

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has approved 26th to 29th July as work-free days for workers in the State in a bid for them to register for or collect their Permanent Voters Cards before the exercise closes on July 30, 2022.
