BREAKING: Yobe State Governor, H.E Mai Mala Buni Appointed Chairman of APC Caretaker Committee

The Governor of Yobe state, H.E Mai Mala Buni has been appointed the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) caretaker committee. His appointment follows the dissolution of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC by the recommendation of President Muhammadu Buhari. The decision was taken at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the APC. Details later.

Breaking: APC Committee Disqualifies Governor Obaseki from Contesting Primary Election

The screening committee set up by the All Progressive Congress (APC) has disqualified incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki from contesting the party’s forthcoming primary election. The chairman of the screening panel- Jonathan Ayuba disclosed this update during presentation of their report to the national chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja on Friday. The committee screened six aspirants which included Obaseki, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Pius Odubu, chris Ogiemwonyi, Osaro Obazee and Mathew Iduoriyekemwen. Epe Residents in Lagos State on Tuesday protested as EFCC operatives raided the house of the former Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode. Following the recommendation of the National Judicial Council that Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad be confirmed as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has accepted the nomination and forwarded same to the Senate for confirmation. The NJC had made this recommendation on Wednesday and the President's acceptance was confirmed by the Senate President who presented Tanko's name to the house for confirmation. The Shi'ite movement headed by the incarcerated Ibrahim Yaqoub El Zakzaky are currently staging a peaceful protest in Lagos following the more volatile protest in Abuja that resulted in the deaths of at least two individuals. The protest is again to call the Nigerian government to obey the several court orders that have asked that El Zakzaky to be released for treatment. While speaking during the protest, one of the spokespersons pointed out that El Zakzaky has about 21 million following and that if their leader dies in prison, it will spell doom for Nigeria as these 21 million followers are ready and willing to die for him.
