Minister of State for labour tweeted in the early hours of this morning that the federal government has reached an agreement with labour leading to a suspension of the scheduled strike action.   The tweet read "FG & LABOUR reach agreement at 2:53am. Nigeria: NLC Insists on Strike Commencing 28th Sept. 2020

The Nigerian Labour Congress has doubled down on its position that there will be a Nation-wide strike from the 28th of September 2020 unless their demands are met. In a post shared on their Facebook Page, the union said "STRIKE BEGINS TOMMOROW MONDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER, UNLESS OUR DEMANDS ARE MET." STRIKE BEGINS TOMMOROW MONDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER, UNLESS OUR DEMANDS ARE MET. Posted by Nigeria Labour Congress HQ on Sunday, September 27, 2020 It will be recalled that a court ordered the strike to be put on hold, an order which the union does not appear to be willing to obey. The Federal Government has invited the union's leaders for a meeting so it is yet to be seen if the strike will be called off before tomorrow the 28th of September. We will keep you posted.

Breaking: PDP Clinches Ize-Iyamu’s Local Government 

Flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress, Osagie Ize-Iyamu has failed to win his Local Government Area as Godwin Obaseki bettered him. Despite winning his polling unit, Ize-Iyamu failed to deliver the council area. Results announced by INEC showed Ize-Iyamu/APC scored 212,983 while Obaseki/PDP polled 295,296 votes to secure an 82,313 difference between the top contenders. Result from the last LGA is set to determine the winner of the Edo State governorship election, although Obaseki maintains a firm lead.

  Pandemonium ensued this morning at the polling unit of Governor Obaseki. The Governor who voted at his polling unit 19, ward 04, Oredo local government area of Edo state met an irate number of youths whose mission were unclear. Breaking: Two Dead as Helicopter Crashes in Lagos

A plane has crashed in Lagos, Nigeria leading to the death of the pilot and one passenger. Reports say one person was rescued alive from the Quorum Aviation owned helicopter, Sahara Reporters reports. Eye witness account say the crash took place around the Salvation Bus-stop area of Lagos. The figures were confirmed by Nosa Okunbor, Head of Public Affairs of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency. Okunbor said, "There are three casualties. Two died. One resuscitated and taken to the hospital."

AfDB Election: Adesina Re-Elected as President

President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwunmi Adesina has been re-elected for a second tenure. He was re-elected by the Board of Governors of the Bank at the ongoing AfDB’s virtual annual meeting in Abuja on Thursday. It was disclosed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Media, Lauretta Onochie on Twitter. Onochie wrote, “Our very own Akinwumi Akin Adesina has been reaffirmed as the President of the African Development Bank. “Thank you to our supportive President @MBuhari who mobilized support for our own Adesina and why not! Adesina has been proven to be above boards.” Recall that Adesina was recently cleared of misconduct by an Independent Review Committee set up to probe his administration after a complaint by the United States.

Scores Dead as Plane Crashes in South Sudan

Scores of people are believed to have died in South Sudan after a cargo plane that took off from airport in Juba crashed. Eight people were on board the plane that belongs to South west Aviation which was heading to Northen Bahr el Ghazal state, Kur Kuol Director of Juba International Airport said. Kuol said, “Eight people were on board and I still don’t have details about the number of people died in the crash.” Six dead bodies were seen on the ground and one injured person was rushed to hospital, eyewitnesses say.   Source: CTGN

Ex-NDDC MD, Joy Nunieh, Barred from Leaving Rivers Home by Police Personnel

Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force on Thursday barricaded the Port Harcourt home of Joy Nunieh, former Acting Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, preventing her from going to the airport. Reports suggest Nunieh was scheduled to meet with Senate committee on NDDC in Abuja today. SaharaReporters reports that a source to her said, "Nunieh just called me now. The police have taken over her house since 4:00am in Port Harcourt. She is expected to testify before the House of Reps today.
