2023 PDP Ticket: Atiku, Saraki, Tambuwal, Mohammed Meet in Abuja

PDP Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwarts have met over the 2023 presidential ticket. Atiku hosted the meeting, which was held Monday night in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. Ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki, Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal and Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed attended. After the parley, Atiku disclosed that they deliberated on the future of the PDP and the country. “I had a meeting tonight with Saraki, Tambuwal, Bala and Hayatudden to discuss the future of our party and Nigeria. The president of Burundi, Évariste Ndayishimiye is set to fire all married government officials who have concubines or are involved in extra-marital relationships. The directive is alleged to have been masterminded by Minister for Internal Security, Gervais Ndirakobuca as a way to bring sanity into the country starting from the top. UN Watchdog Reports Continued Human Rights Abuses in Burundi

A UN watchdog reports that there has been continued human rights violations such as sexual violence, murder, and summary executions in Burundi The citizens had earlier hoped on a new era where peace will reign with the election of new President Evariste Ndayishimiye, who was elected in May after taking over from his predecessor Pierre Nkurunziza. Burundi Swears in Ndayishimiye as President

Burundi has sworn in President elect Evariste Ndayishimiye on Thursday as successor to the deceased leader Nkurunziza. Ndayishimiye takes over power two months after the sudden demise of his predecessor, Nkurunziza. Evariste Ndayishimiye emerged President elect in May after running as the candidate of the ruling party in Burundi and the anointed candidate of Nkurunziza. Ndayishimiye was billed to be sworn in August but the abrupt death of the Nkurunziza created a void which needed to be filled. Deceased President of Burundi, Pierre Nkurunziza was duly elected President on 26 August, 2005 at a time when the country was recovering from a decade long civil war which lasted from 1995-2005. His emergence was a popular choice among the Burundians. The Guardian reported that Nkurunziza’s death is COVID-19 related. Burundi's President Pierre Nkurunziza has been named "Eternal Supreme Guide" by his political party. The move means no one in the governing CNDD-FDD is allowed to disagree with his choices, secretary-general Evariste Ndayishimiye said. "He is our leader.
