Northern Elders Forum’s Position on the Proposed Constitutional Review

Northern Elders Forum Position on the Proposed Constitutional Review by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Statement of Northern Elders Forum(NEF) on the Senate’s Call for Memoranda on Review of the Constitution. Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has taken note of the published invitation by the Senate ad-Hoc Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution (as amended)to the public to submit Memorandum to assist the “further alteration of the provisions of the Constitution(as amended)”. The announcement gives all Nigerians only two weeks to submit their memoranda on all aspects requiring amendment of the current Constitution. 2. The Forum is convinced that this repetitive initiative of the Senate is of no value and a predictable waste of time, resources and e...
Nigeria – Are You A Unionist Or A Secessionist?

Nigeria – Are You A Unionist Or A Secessionist?

25th August 2020   Given the bloody events in Nigeria, I strongly urge us to dialogue not only at national, but also at international levels regarding what I have termed the “territorial credence*” of Nigeria. That is, how real is this country called Nigeria? Such a dialogue is needed, and quite urgently too as it regards the legal existence and then the viability of “Nigeria”.   Nigeria’s Union is founded on its Constitution. Before Independence in 1960 the ethnic nationalities that comprise Nigeria established, then agreed upon certain conditions that must be met and kept, if there was to be any Union. It is the 1999 Constitution that Nigeria operates today, and the important dialogue should be about the validity of this Constitution. Here is some basic information ...

Opinion: The Deceit Of Amending the Null and Void 1999 Nigeria Constitution

11th August 2020   For the sake of authenticity and thus validity, Nigeria’s Constitution must truly be made by the people, and not be imposed upon the people (unawares) as was the 1999 Constitution. In the past twenty-one years much has been written about the forgery that the 1999 Constitution is. Briefly, “We the people” did not prepare or agree any part of this Constitution as falsely claimed in its preamble. Furthermore, the current Nigeria is not a Federation as stated in the Constitution, instead it operates under a Unitary system. These are just two ways that make the 1999 Constitution a clear forgery.   Since the 1999 Constitution is a forgery, it is not binding because it is NULL AND VOID. It therefore cannot be amended but as a forged instrument must be disc...

Leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu Orders Group to Cease Attacks Against Yorubas

Nnamdi kanu, leader of the pro-Biafra group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has ordered its media arm to cease attacks on the Yoruba ethnic group. Chike Edoziem, IPOB Head of Directorate of State in a communique instructed the group’s media personnel to abide by the directives of it leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and stop every attack against the Yoruba. IPOB's statement read, "Consequent upon the directive by Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, worldwide during his live broadcast of Sunday, July 19, 2020, to the effect that all attacks on Yoruba people should cease immediately, the Directorate of State of the Indigenous People of Biafra has deemed it instructive to reiterate and reaffirm the adherence by all to that directive from our leader...

Opinion: What do these Biafrans Really Want? by Pomonua

I asked this question because the noise from their agitation is really taking a nuisance pitch and dimension. Let us set the records straight, the British continues to have an interest in the affairs of Nigeria and its governance. The country is a major source of earnings for them. When they departed upon independence, they entrusted its affairs in the hands of those they could trust; those who will allow them unfettered access to those things that fueled their economy. That is how the Fulani came to be in power. Biafra knows that Britain is the unseen hand working behind the scene to frustrate its actualization, even though the face of the Fulani is what you see. If in doubt, watch this video of the confession by Harold Smith, one of the principal participant during that episode.  ...

IPOB is Absolutely Necessary for the Fight for the Emancipation of Igbo Land – Igbo Stakeholders

Resolutions Reached The Meeting Between Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and Some Igbo Stakeholders Being Facilitated By Nzuko Umunna (Bridge Builders) at the Peace And Reconciliation Meeting On July 5th, 2020. The discussions held between Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and some stakeholders of Igbo land and the resolutions agreed thereupon are as follows: 1. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has legitimate reasons to be angry. The failure of leadership in Igbo land is a critical issue that has to be addressed urgently. However, there is a need to move away from verbal attacks and abuses /insults on elders and neighbours of the Igbo nation. 2. The personal sacrifices Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has made for the cause and rights of the Igbo nation is highly appreciated and honoured by many Igbos. Most Igbos love Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and this is...

Buried for 50 years: Britain’s Shameful Role in the Biafran War by Frederick Forsyth

A million children starved to death. I’m haunted by the images I saw there – and by the complicity of the Wilson government It is a good thing to be proud of one’s country, and I am – most of the time. But it would be impossible to scan the centuries of Britain’s history without coming across a few incidents that evoke not pride but shame. Among those I would list are the creation by British officialdom in South Africa of the concentration camp, to persecute the families of Boers. Add to that the Amritsar massacre of 1919 and the Hola camps set up and run during the struggle against Mau Mau. But there is one truly disgusting policy practised by our officialdom during the lifetime of anyone over 50, and one word will suffice: Biafra. This referred to the civil war in Nigeria that end...

Opinion: Punch Newspapers, Kperogi and their Hypocritical Lamentations by Ikechukwu Eluigwe

How sincere is he who, having an elephant before him, uses a dog to give an example of a very large animal? How sincere is he, who having a dolphin before him, uses a frog to give an example of an aquatic animal? How sincere is he, who having a lion before him, uses a pussy cat as an example of a fierce predator? There are examples we use to buttress a point that will actually reveal more to a wise audience than just what the example was meant to buttress. Punch Newspapers have been in the news because of their lamentation over Buhari's draconian rule; before then, Farooq Kperogi had rendered his own lamentations over the same thing. In their lamentations, they both sought to validate their positions by giving examples of Buhari's despotism. And something strange happens: the no-mention...

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama Escapes Lynching in Austria

Another Nigerian government official has experienced the wrath of members of IPOB in Europe. This time it is Geoffrey Onyeama, the nation's Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was in Austria where he was holding a meeting with Nigerians when during the session, trouble erupted. The problem really began during a question and answer session. A participant has asked a question regarding the behaviour of the executive with regards to how it disdains court orders and referencing the incarceration of the IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu despite court orders issued for his release and the Biafra war. In answering this question, the minister started by saying the most of those who were agitating today did not experience the war and that it was sad they were romanticizing something they really did not kno...

Nigeria: Ike Ekweremadu Manhandled by IPOB Members in Germany

Former deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu was shown in a video being manhandled by suspected IPOB members in Nuremburg Germany where he had gone to celebrate the Igbo new yam festival. As the video showed him being chased out of the venue of the event, voices could be heard in the background shouting "people are being killed on a daily basis, people are being arrested for no reason...." "we don't want them here.." This was clearly a show of disappointment and even anger at the Igbo ruling class who many IPOB members and indeed Igbos as a whole have seen as not being interested in the welfare of their people but only interested in their respective pockets.
