Rwanda Launches Economic Recovery Program for Creative Industry

Rwanda on Friday launched a multi-party COVID-19 recovery program known as Cultural and Creative Industry Recovery Plan to uphold enterprises in the cultural and creative industry, as well as artists. According to a press release, the recovery plan aims to support seven Rwandan federations in the sectors of music, film, plastic arts, writing, beauty and fashion, traditional dance and performing arts It targets to provide 300 million Rwandan francs (about 313,000 U.S. dollars) in grants to uphold initiatives from art enterprises and artists, promote access to resources, facilities and training opportunities free for artists, and engage Rwandans to learn about, love and buy made-in-Rwanda art. Dogara’s Return to APC, a Dent on Party’s image – Sagay

Prof Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, has described the return of former House of Reps Speaker, Yabuku Dogara to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) as a huge dent on the party’s image. Dogara who dumped the APC for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) prior to the 2019 general elections was led by Governor Mala Buni of Benue State to meet President Muhammadu Buhari at the state house. Former Reps Speaker Dogara Dumps PDP

Yakubu Dogara former speaker of the House of Representatives, yesterday resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Dogara dumped the PDP to return to All Progressive Congress (APC), twenty-two months after leaving the APC for PDP. Reports say his defection might be due to his conflict with Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and with 2023 in sight. The governor has however rebuffed claims of any feud with the former lawmaker. African leaders have sent condolence messages to the family of Mkapa and the Government of Tanzania on the death of its former President, Benjamin Mkapa.
