Bashir Bashir, the governorship flagbearer of the Labour Party, LP, in Kabno State has dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress, APC. According to an associate of Bashir who spoke to TheCable under the condition of anonymity, on Sunday night, that the defection was informed by the “exclusion of major northern stakeholders in the decision-making process of the party’s campaign”. Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has banned cash transactions in all government offices in the state. Obaseki said the ban would be effective from March 1, 2023. He disclosed this on Thursday in Benin, during a workshop for senior civil and public servants on the state government’s code of ethics. Zamfara State governor, Bello Matawalle has asked security operatives to arrest anybody who refuses to recognize and accept old naira notes for transactions in the state. The governor issued the directive at a swearing-in ceremony of the new High Court Judges and Special Advisers held at the Government House Gusau on Friday. The Federal Government has ratified 67 new broadcast licences for radio and television stations nationwide. This was disclosed by the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Mallam Balarabe Ilelah on Thursday. Ilelah urged broadcasters not to relent abiding by the NBC Act, the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, the Electoral Act, and any extant law that guides media operations to ensure that the general election is free, fair, and credible.
