Shun Politicians With Children Abroad – ASUU President

Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, the President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has called on Nigerian students to shun politicians who enrol their children in universities abroad. Osodeke made the call during a Twitter Space Webinar, organised by Premium Times, tagged, ‘ASUU strike, Revitalisation Fund and the Way Forward.’ Proffering a lasting solution to the incessant strike by the union, Osodeke said students should not vote for politicians who would not stand on the side of the people. The All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of sponsoring rumours to oust its National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu. The ruling party in a statement issued on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said that speculations of plans to remove Adamu as the party’s chair. Ayu stated this in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on media and communication, Simon Imobo-Tswam, debunking the report of his resignation, describing it as a figment of the imagination of his foes. ASUU Strike: Hope At Last As FG, ASUU Resolve IPPIS, UTAS Dispute

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has confirmed that the dispute over the payment platform involving the Integrated Payroll and Persona Information System, IPPIS, and the University Transparency and Accountability Solution, UTAS, has been handled. The issue of payment platform has been one of the major contending issues between the FG and the university lecturers. Father Chinedu Nwadike, the Deputy Registrar of Spiritan University, Nneochi, has been abducted by gunmen. The Catholic priest was abducted on Friday along the Enugu-Okigwe road alongside a seminarian, Emmanuel Nwafor. Punch reports that their abductors are demanding N50m ransom for their release.
