ASUU President Reckless For Calling State Varsities Quacks – EKSU

The management of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has described the statement credited to the president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, calling some State universities quacks as unfortunate and reckless. The varsity stated this in a statement issued by the Head, Directorate of Information, Bode Olofinmuagun, on Friday titled “EKSU not a quack university: ASUU president’s statement, reckless.” According to the statement, Osodeke’s outburst was unwarranted and uncalled for. EKSU ASUU Kicks Against Resumption Order

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti chapter, has kicked against the resumption order issued by the management of the institution. Dr Kayode Arogundade, the Chairman of the union, stated this in an interview on Friday. Arogundade however stated that the university’s Registrar, Ife Oluwole, was at liberty to reopen the university which he shut down following the strike by ASUU. The ASUU chairman’s remarks followed a directive by the Registrar asking fresh intakes for the 2021/2022 session to resume on Monday for screening, registration and orientation programmes. The Federal Government has said that it would be insensitive to the families of abducted passengers of the Abuja-Kaduna train to resume service while some passengers that were abducted by terrorists during the March 28 train attack remain captive. The ministry denied knowledge of any such plans to proscribe ASUU. ASUU NEC To Make Decision On Strike Sunday

The National Executive Council of the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, will decide on the continuation or suspension of the ongoing industrial action on Sunday, August 28, 2022. Reports say the meeting is expected to take place at the union’s national headquarters at the University of Abuja. The decision of the union will be based on reports from different state congresses that are expected to be conducted before then. Recall that ASUU had on February 14, 2022, declared strike over some dispute with the federal government. Among the issues are the deployment of the University Transparency Accountability System, UTAS, and the renegotiation of the 2009 ASUU-FGN agreement among others.
