ASUU Strike Suspended Based On Trust – ASUU President

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has stated that the union based the suspension of its strike on trust rather than a signed agreement with the government. This was stated by the President of the union, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, during a meeting with the leadership of the House of Representatives on Monday. Recall that the Appeal Court had supported the order of the National Industrial Court, for the union to suspend its strike. How Airfares Rose By 96.87% In One Year – NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has said that the price of air transportation rose by 96.87 per cent in one year. In its report titled ‘transport fare watch’ (September 2022), the Bureau stated that the average ticket for specified routes single journey rose by 96.87% from N36,922.97 in September 2021 on a year-on-year basis.   NBS said that on a month-on-month basis, it rose by 11.76% from N65,041.89 in August 2022 to N72,690.54 in September 2022. NAFDAC Raises Alarm Over Suspected Fake Augmentin

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has cautioned Nigerians against suspected fake Augmentin 625mg Tabs in circulation in the country. The agency said the product did not meet up with the labeling requirements.   The alert which was signed by the management of NAFDAC and titled ‘NAFDAC Alert And Sensitization of the Public on Suspected Falsified Augmentin 625mg’ was uploaded on the agency’s website. ASUU Appeals Against NIC Judgment On Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has once again appealed the judgment of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria which ordered the union to suspend its strike. Reports say the court was yet to fix a date to officially hear the suit. ASUU Femi Falana, ASUU counsel, stated this in an interview with Punch on Saturday. According to Falana, the union was still expecting the official hearing date from the appellate court. Recall that Justice Hamman Polycarp of the Industrial Court had ordered the members of ASUU to return to the classroom. The union proceeded to file an appeal before the Appeal Court in Abuja. Lantang North Local Government Area of Plateau State was on Thursday closed by irate workers who were protesting non-payment of salaries. The workers said their decision to shut down the secretariate was informed by the non-payment of their salaries for more than four months.
