Ohanaeze Ndigbo Reacts To Alleged Call To Impeach Osinbajo

Apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has reacted to speculations that the group called for the inclusion of Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo among those to be served impeachment notice by the Senate. Ohanaeze Ndigbo in a statement issued by its spokesman, Alex Ogbonnia, debunked the claim, saying it never made any such call. Recall that the Nigerian Senate had threatened to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari over the spate of insecurity in the country. But Ohanaeze Ndigbo disassociated itself from the press release where the call was purportedly made, describing those behind it as “are mischief makers, impostors, charlatans”. Iba Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, has expressed worry over the level of insecurity in Nigeria. He said that intelligence reports obtained showed that suspected terrorists were already laying siege in forests in Osun and Ogun States. Umahi Emerges APC Senatorial Candidate In Fresh Polls

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has emerged as the winner of the Ebonyi South All Progressives Congress, APC, Senatorial fresh election conducted in the State. The result was declared by Prof. Emmanuel Adebayo, the Chairman of the Electoral Panel for the APC Ebonyi South Senatorial district election. He announced that Umahi polled a total of 250 votes to win the election. He said that out of 275 votes cast, 268 votes were valid while 7 were invalid. The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has urged Nigerians to avoid rumours in the foreign exchange market to ensure the naira does not dip further. This was said by the CBN corporate communications director, Osita Nwanisobi, in a statement issued on Friday. The statement follows the raiding of Wuse Zone 4, Abuja by operatives of the Economic and FInancia Crimes Commission, EFCC, over alleged mopping up of foreign currencies by some Bereaux De Change, BDC, operators. Reports say the raid was in an attempt to “dislodge currency speculators who are alleged to be massively mopping up available foreign currencies.” The naira recently dipped to around N7070 per dollar from about N580 at the parallel market.
