World Population Day: Lagos Lawmaker Seeks Government Intervention on Population Control

A member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu representing Eti-Osa constituency 02 on Thursday seek government intervention to control Nigeria's increased population. Yishawu made this known in a statement issued in commemoration of the 2019 World Population Day. It would be recalled that the World Population Day is observed annually on July 11. Yishawu who is the ad-hoc Committee Chairman on Budget and Economic Planning maintained that government must look for ways to control over population and address problems associated with it. In a statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary said  the governor approved the fund after securing a discount of N50m from the contractors who were being owed N515m out of the N1.38bn total contract sums. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday visited victims of the recent Ijegun pipeline fire incident who are receiving treatment at the Trauma and Burns Unit of the Gbagada General Hospital. The Governor, in company of his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, sympathised with families of the victims and also appraised recuperation of the survivors.
