The Falcons are set to face Morocco in the semifinals of the Women African Cup of Nations, WAFCON after defeating the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon 1-0.
Rasheedat Ajibade’s second-half header was what secured the victory for the Nigerians, after a very tough contest against the Cameroonians.
The Indomitable Lionesses coming into the match knew their awful record against the Super Falcons, with the Nigerians defeating them 13 out of the 14 times they faced.

This made the Cameroonians more aggressive in their pattern of play, making it difficult for the falcons to break through.
The breakthrough came in the 53rd minute when Ajibade took the lead for the Falcons. As the Nigerians were able to secure the lead, they tighten their defense so the Indomitable Lionesses wouldn’t be able to find an equalizer.
At the end of the 90 minutes, The Nigerians came out on top with 14 wins out of 15 against the Cameroonians. This result means they qualify for the semifinal and the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
