Josephine Okereke, the wife of the newspaper vendor killed by an operative of the Department of State Services (DSS) attached to the speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has distanced herself from her husband’s family request for N500m compensation.

Josephine disclosed this on Thursday at a press conference in Abuja.

The family of the deceased Ifeanyichukwu Okereke earlier wrote to Gbajabiamila, demanding for N500m.

Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), counsel to the family, had demanded for the sum in a letter he said was authorised by the father of the late vendor, Okorie Okereke, and the younger brother to the deceased, Destiny Okereke.

Recall that the DSS last week arrested the operative, Abdullahi Hassan, who shot Okereke while Gbajabiamila had also visited the family of the deceased and promised to ensure that they do not suffer.

But the family made demand for more, noting that their son could not be brought back to life.

However, the widow who claimed not to be aware of the pre-litigation process asked the Speaker to ignore the family, but rather fulfill his promises to her and her two children.
