Tiktokers To Be Flogged In Kano For Defaming Ganduje

The Kano State Magistrates’ Court in its ruling on Monday ordered the flogging of two comedians identified as Mubarak Muhammad, and Zazifi Bala, for abusing Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State on their Tiktok handles.

According to Magistrate Aminu Gabari, in his ruling on Monday, the duo should be given 20 lashes for their offense and will sweep and wash toilets in the surroundings of the court for a period of 30 days.

The Magistrate ordered that the individuals be publicly flogged.

The convicts were also ordered to pay a fine of N10,00 each for defaming Ganduje and a further N10,00 for causing public disturbance.

Magistrate Gabari directed non-custodial terms against the convicts and mandated them to post a video media tendering an apology to Ganduje.

The judgment followed the convicts’ appearance in court on November 4, where they pleaded guilty to the two counts of defamation and inciting public disturbance brought against them.

Information obtained from the First Information Report say the convicts defamed Governor Ganduje on their verified Tiktok account.

Wada Ahmad, the prosecutor, from the Kano State Ministry of Justice, solicited for summary trial of the individuals as the magistrate fixed Monday for sentencing.
