In a major shake-up of the nation’s security apparatus, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has announced the immediate retirement of all Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, Advisers, and the Comptroller General of Customs. The President wasted no time in appointing their replacements, with the newly appointed officers set to assume their roles with immediate effect.
The list of the newly appointed officers was released today by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey. Among the key appointments are Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as the National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. C.G Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen. T. A Lagbaja as the Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla as the Chief of Naval Staff, AVM H.B Abubakar as the Chief of Air Staff, and DIG Kayode Egbetokun as the Acting Inspector-General of Police. Maj. Gen. EPA Undiandeye has been appointed as the Chief of Defense Intelligence.
Furthermore, President Tinubu has approved several other appointments. Col. Adebisi Onasanya has been designated as the Brigade of Guards Commander, Lt. Col. Moshood Abiodun Yusuf will lead the 7 Guards Battalion in Asokoro, Abuja, Lt. Col. Auwalu Baba Inuwa will take charge of the 177 Guards Battalion in Keffi, Nasarawa State, Lt. Col. Mohammed J. Abdulkarim will be responsible for the 102 Guards Battalion in Suleja, Niger, and Lt. Col. Olumide A. Akingbesote will head the 176 Guards Battalion in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Additionally, several military officers have been appointed to positions within the Presidential Villa. Maj. Isa Farouk Audu has been appointed as the Commanding Officer of the State House Artillery, Capt. Kazeem Olalekan Sunmonu will serve as the Second-in-Command of the State House Artillery, Maj. Kamaru Koyejo Hamzat will take on the role of Commanding Officer of the State House Military Intelligence, Maj. TS Adeola will be the Commanding Officer of the State House Armament, and Lt. A. Aminu will serve as the Second-in-Command of the State House Armament.
President Tinubu has also made additional appointments to his advisory team. Hadiza Bala Usman has been appointed as the Special Adviser for Policy Coordination, while Hannatu Musa Musawa has been named the Special Adviser for Culture and Entertainment Economy. Furthermore, Sen. Abdullahi Abubakar Gumel has been appointed as the Senior Special Assistant for National Assembly Matters (Senate), and Hon. (Barr) Olarewaju Kunle Ibrahim will serve as the Senior Special Assistant for National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).
In another significant move, Adeniyi Bashir Adewale has been appointed as the Acting Comptroller General of Customs.
It is important to note that the appointed Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Comptroller General of Customs will act in their positions pending confirmation in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
