Resident Doctors Commence Strike Two Days After Buhari Embarked on London Medical Trip

Members of the Nigeran Association of Resident Doctors, NARD on Thursday (today) began a nationwide industrial action after issuing a prior notice without their demands met by the Nigerian Government.

The doctors in a tweet on Twitter stated that the strike was not intended to hurt ordinary citizens but to challenge the Government to care for her citizens.

The NARD in a tweet on it handle, @nard_nigeria, wrote, “Nigerians must understand that we love them and the strike is not intended to hurt them but to challenge the Nigerian government @MBuhari @Fmohnigeria @LabourMinNG whose responsibilities amongst others is to care for her citizens and labour force to do the needful.”

According to the NARD President, Dr Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi, the strike commenced by 8 am Thursday.

It comes on the heels of President Muhammadu Buhari’s two weeks medical vacation to the United Kingdom.

President Buhari according to a statement by the Presidency is due back in the country during the second week of April 2021.
