Nigerians were recently shocked at the news that Peter Obi and his candidacy of the Labour party were in peril as a result of some internal crises. One of the persons mentioned in this news is Sampson Uchenna Charles.

Sampson Uchenna Charles, the founder of FOUNDATION For A New Nigeria and the SUC Organizations, was said to have contested the emergence of Peter Obi as the presidential candidate for the Labour Party.

Responding on his Facebook page and via a Press Release, he has come out to debunk this claims. In his press release and Facebook post, he said:

“It has come to my notice this morning that I Sampson Uchenna Charles, took Governor Peter Obi to Court over the LP Presidential Candidacy.

“Let it be on record that Peter Obi is an Igbo elder statesman and also my older brother whom I respect and admire.

“I will never do anything to deny our people of Igbo heritage the opportunity to produce president of Nigeria.

“Labour Party should resolve its own crisis and please I don’t want to be a part to this ugly rumour going round.

“I am currently reinforcing and rebuilding my National Movements (Foundation For A New Nigeria and the SUC Organization) to keep sensitizing and creating awareness for the youths of Nigeria for the rebuilding of our nation where equity, faireness and justice will reign supreme.”

This development will come as a relief to the many supporters of Peter Obi. Like one said, “One down, one to go”. This was in reference to the emergence of Jude Ezenwafor as a factional Presidential candidate for the party.
