Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State yesterday commissioned the first batch of the 100,000 special assistants he appointed.
Wike Recently appointed them to man the political units in their respective wards ahead of the 2023 election.
The inaugurated batch comprising beneficiaries from Rivers West and Rivers Southeast senatorial districts was inaugurated at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
The governor charged them to be close to their people and listen to their view of his administration, particularly as it regards its programmes and policies.
He stressed that their mandate includes collating impressions and passing them on as feedback through the recently appointed 319 Ward and 82 Constituency Liaison Officers, who would then deliver same to him.

Wike added: “Now your own is the most important because you hear directly from the people. You know the feelings of the people about us. You are the one that will come and tell us, ‘look, this is what my people are saying’…
“This is a political period, hear from the people. What are they saying? So, you’ll be able to advise the governor, so I will know what decision to take. It is you who will determine what decision the people of Rivers State will take at the end of the day.”
