Agboola Ajayi, Deputy Governor of Ondo State has announced his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

He announced his resignation late hours on Sunday few weeks after he failed to clinch the party’s ticket during the PDP primary election. He lost to Eyitayo Jedege.

The deputy governor’s resignation was confirmed by his media aide, Allen Sowore in a statement on Monday.

Festus Oboro, Chairman of the PDP in Apoi Ward II of Ese-Ode Local Government Area (LGA) of the Ondo State received his resignation letter.

Ajayi leaves PDP less than two months after decamping to the party to seek its ticket for the forthcoming governorship election.

According to the statement Sowore said, “The deputy governor appreciates the national leadership and members of the party for their warm reception and acceptance in the short period he rejoined the party.”

Ajayi is anticipated to formerly join Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) where he has been promised the party’s ticket for the governorship election in October, according to Sahara Reporters.

He had been consulting with ZLP leader, Olusegun Mimiko prior to the official announcement.
