Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has replied former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal, accusing him of spreading falsehood over the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Recall that APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu had confirmed the choice of former governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, as his running mate. The decision has been greeted with widespread condemnation from different quarters.
Lawal in his reaction alleged an agenda to Islamize Nigeria through the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling party. He had associated Ganduje with the plan to Islamize the country and allegedly turn Tinubu to an Islamic president if he emerges as the president in 2023.
Ganduje in his reaction contained in a statement issued by Muhammad Garba, Kano State Commissioner for Information, cautioned Lawal against spreading intolerance at a time the polity is already heated.
The statement read, “It is unfortunate that at a time when the country needs to be united for national development and religious tolerance, a man of Babachir’s caliber, who is highly respected, would spread falsehood without much consideration to his position in the All Progressives Congress and close relationship with the party’s flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
He urged Lawal and other internal critics “to be mindful of their utterances, especially on religious matters and support the APC for quality leadership that will deliver the country from its challenges.”
