The Lagos State Government on Sunday sealed the Cubana night club, Ikeja GRA for violating the COVID-19 protocols introduced to curb the second wave of the virus in the state.

Reports say the popular relaxation spot was sealed after inspection officials from the Lagos State Safety Commission arrived at the premises and discovered that the management was breaching the safety guidelines.

The officials found the entertainment spot booming at the point at the time of visit rather than closed as ordered by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

In a viral video on social media obtained by African News Today, a crowd of people were seen making their way out of the premises without wearing facemask or face shields as prescribed by the safety protocols.

The closure took place hours after the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, banned the operation of night clubs in the state indefinitely as a measure to curtail the spread of the virus as the state experiences a second wave of COVID-19.

Sanwo-Olu, while addressing Lagosians recently on the second wave said: “Concerts, carnivals and street parties are banned in Lagos State until further notice.

“Night Clubs have not been allowed to open yet. All Night Clubs in Lagos must immediately shut down, until further notice”, he added.

The governor noted that the development was taken after it was discovered that of the 100 tests that the government performed, an average of 10 turn out to be positive.
