Bashir Bashir, the governorship flagbearer of the Labour Party, LP, in Kabno State has dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to an associate of Bashir who spoke to TheCable under the condition of anonymity, on Sunday night, that the defection was informed by the “exclusion of major northern stakeholders in the decision-making process of the party’s campaign”.
The associate also said another reason for the defection was the “lack of clear direction on the interest of northern Nigeria”.

Reports say Bashir held meetings with the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and Kashim Shettima, Tinubu’s running mate.
The meetings were said to have been held in Lagos and Abuja, where an agreement was said to have been reached on the terms of defection.
Bashir reportedly pledged to mobilise his supporters to queue behind the APC presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, Bashir had shunned the LP presidential campaign rally in Kano in January.
This follows the defection of the LP governorship candidate in Jigawa, Yusuf Tsoho, to the APC.
