A Federal High Court Judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo has knocked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFFC, over its incorrect report of court proceedings posted on its official Twitter page.

The trial judge of Senator Shehu Sani’s ongoing trial over an alleged $25,000 fraud frowned at the anti-graft agency’s inaccurate report about the trial in the public space.

Ekwo said, “An open court, which its proceedings are recorded verbatim… seeing that inaccurate report of the case before me on the official Twitter (page) of EFCC is worrisome.”

According to him, court proceedings were strictly about the law and what it says and not about the sentiments or opinions of people.

He added, “Court proceedings are not about someone or public opinion, but about the standpoint of the law.”

The judged expressed worry over the inconsistency of the anti-graft agency in the change of prosecution counsel, noting that it was the third time it changed its counsel since the beginning of the case.

Ekwo’s delivered the admonition on Tuesday when the EFCC presented a different counsel from the one that appeared on Monday.
